i’m always lingering - breath shallow, tense, but fragile, hanging by a thread of desperate expectation,
i’m grasping onto the short stabs that prod my chest
seized up in the centre of a mental merry-go-round,
heavily light my tendons knotting
frozen fear leaves me frigid, fragile -
don’t touch me, i fear you’ll break the ice.
